Colonel Jeffrey M. Hall
Commander and District Engineer
Col. Jeff Hall assumed command of the Savannah District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, June 4, 2010. As District Commander, Hall oversees the Savannah District’s $2.5 billion military construction program at 12 Army and Air Force installations in Georgia and North Carolina; water resource activities in eastern Georgia and portions of South Carolina; and wetland protection in Georgia. The Savannah District also performs work in military design and master planning; hazardous, toxic and radioactive waste clean-up at formerly used defense sites; real estate activities for the Department of Defense; emergency management operations for state and federal agencies; and supports Overseas Contingency Operations.
Hall came to the Savannah District following an assignment as the Command Engineer for the Army and Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES), a global military retailer, where he led a $2.5 billion capital construction program and oversaw the maintenance of 3,100 facilities in 35 countries, five U.S. territories, and all 50 states.
Before AAFES, he served in numerous engineer command and staff positions in the United States and overseas. Previous assignments include the Northeast Asia Engineer Desk Officer, J44, U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM), Honolulu, HI; Commander, Buffalo District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo, NY; Chief of Engineer Operations and Plans, HQ KFOR, Pristina, Kosovo; Command Engineer, J3/7, Joint Command Northeast (JCNE), NATO, Karup, Denmark; S-3 Engineer Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division (1CD), Fort Hood, TX; S-3 91st Engineer Battalion, 1CD, Fort Hood and Camp Eagle, Tuzla, Bosnia-Herzegovina (SFOR); Chief of Engineer Operations, V Corps, Heidelberg, Germany; Company Commander and Operations Officer, 130th Engineer Brigade, Hanau, Frankfurt, and Heidelberg Germany; S-4, 12th Engineer Battalion, 3rd Armored Division, Iraq, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia; Company Commander and S-4, 44th Engineer Battalion, Camp Mercer, Korea; and platoon leader, 299th Engineer Battalion, Fort Sill, OK.
Hall was born at Fort Riley, Kansas and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He also earned a Master of Science degree in General Administration from Central Michigan University in 1997 and a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College in 2007.
Hall’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with valor device, the Overseas Ribbon (5th award), and a Bronze DeFleury Medal. Hall is an avid golfer and geo-cacher.
