Fish Mortality Study
Anthony Rabern, biologist with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, retrieves data tracking information from tagged fish in Lake Hartwell on the Georgia-South Carolina state line. The GA DNR compares their data with water quality data gathered by the Savannah District to help determine fish habitat, migration habits and possible causes of fish mortality in late summer months. The tracking information is fed into a computer where the scientists can follow striped bass, some of which travel up to 30 miles within the reservoir.
