Savannah River islands attract a different type of tourist
Ellie Covington, a biologist with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District, counts birds through a spotting scope at Jones-Oysterbed Island, June 26. The island is one of four created as part of environmental mitigation for the Savannah Harbor Navigation Project and designed to entice threatened species of birds to nest.
