Thurmond Lake officials announce rolling ramp closures for repairs

Published April 21, 2017

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Officials at the J. Strom Thurmond Dam and Lake announced a rolling closure of boat ramps at the reservoir in order to restripe and repave the ramps before the main recreation season opens. In all cases the ramps will be open on weekends.

“We set this on a rolling timetable to ensure boaters have access to a ramp nearby when one is closed,” Kevin Madsen, the chief ranger at Thurmond Lake said. “We want to keep any inconvenience to the public to a minimum but we also want to finish this needed maintenance before the big summer season.”

The following schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or other delays. Boaters should check with the Thurmond recreation office at 800-533-3478 for updates. The Savannah District will also post updates to the district’s social media sites: Facebook.com/SavannahCorps and Twitter.com/SavannahCorps.
