Seasonal Closures at J. Strom Thurmond Lake Recreation Area

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Certain recreation sites operated by the US Army Corp of Engineers at the J. Strom Thurmond Lake will close or partially close for the season between Sept. 6 and Oct. 2.

Four day-use picnic areas will partially close Sept. 6:

  • Amity – Boat ramp only remains open
  • Gill Point – Boat ramp only remains open
  • Lake Springs – Boat ramp and Deer Run picnic sites and shelter remain open
  • Parksville – Boat ramp and Sunrise Beach picnic sites remain open
     

West Dam day-use picnic area will partially close Sept. 12.  Sites 21 through 40 and the Bartram Trail trailhead remain open.

Below Dam South Carolina and Clarks Hill Park day-use picnic areas remain open year-round as do remaining boat ramps including Scotts Ferry and Modoc.

Campgrounds closing Oct.2 include:

  • Modoc
  • Winfield
  • Hawe Creek
  • Ridge Road

The remaining campgrounds, including portions of Petersburg, all of LeRoys Ferry and Bussey Point, remain open year-round.
