    SAVANNAH, Ga. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers today unveiled its recommended plan to allow fish passage around the currently existing New Savannah Bluff Lock and Dam.     SAVANNAH, Ga. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers along with local government officials, announces the start of debris removal activity in Georgia, under the direction of the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA/HS) and Federal Emergency Management Agencies (FEMA) as part of the FEMA debris mission assignment. The first haul is scheduled to take place Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, at 3 p.m., between 144 and 198 Somerset Drive in Albany, Georgia. All interested media are invited to attend for coverage. For the next several months debris will be picked up by contractors operating under the direction of the Corps of Engineers, GEMA/HS and FEMA.

  • Lake Hartwell’s Glenn Ferry access area to close temporarily for road repairs

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Hartwell Lake Project Office will temporarily close the Glenn Ferry boat ramp in Anderson County, South Carolina, on Oct. 29 to repair the access road. Repair work will take approximately two weeks and the ramp should reopen by Nov. 9, weather permitting.
