Thurmond Marina temporarily closed

Published May 14, 2014

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers J. Strom Thurmond Lake Office temporarily close the Thurmond Marina located in Columbia County, Georgia, beginning May 14.

The area will be closed to the public for approximately three weeks.

Boaters and anglers may use nearby boat ramps at Cherokee Day Use Area in Lincoln County and Keg Creek and Wildwood Park in Columbia County while the Thurmond Marina is closed.

The temporary closure of Thurmond Marina is required to ensure public safety while contractors remove underground storage tanks on the site. Access to the boat ramps will be obstructed while work is ongoing. The marina will be re-opened for public use as soon as possible following completion of the work.
