In April 2016, Cockspur Island underwent a much needed makeover. Fort Pulaski National Monument funded a restoration project that repaired mortar, applied protective exterior paint and remilled the lighthouse’s wooden interior structures. The project coincides with the National Park Service’s Centennial celebration this year.
