April 6th, 2012
Calhoun Falls State Park will be hosting a movie night in the field behind the tackle shop at dark (around 7:45 p.m.). The featured film will be the movie "Hop". It is free with paid park admission. There will be concessions available for purchase. Remember to bring a chair!

May 12th, 2012
Annual Kid's Fishing Day at the SCDNR bank fishing area. This will be held in conjunction with National Kid's to Park's day- a nationwide day of outdoor play created by the National Park Trust, a non-profit organization. Community Outreach - Special Programs

Russell Lake Office is currently offering water safety programs and dam tours on Tuesdays and Thursdays (between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m) and on Fridays (between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m.)

Availability is limited, and preference is given to groups of 5 or more. This is open to the public on a first come first serve basis. Please call to request a program or dam tour at least two weeks in advance to allow for sufficient scheduling.

Preference is given to school groups, church, and civic groups.

Hunts

Public lands surrounding Richard B. Russell Lake provide excellent deer, turkey and small game hunting opportunities. In general, there is a rim of public land around the lake that extends at least 300 feet from the shoreline that is open for hunting. The Corps boundary line is marked with orange/redwood colored paint.
