Welcome to our WEB Site!

We have developed this site with several purposes in mind. One is to post pertinent information about the study as we go along. A second is to disseminate information and analysis of issues and study tasks to the study team and partners in a timely, economic fashion. We also want to provide pointers to other exciting things occurring in the Savannah River Basin.

In response to the authority provided in Section 414 of the Water Resources Development Act of 1996 (P.L. 104-303), The Savannah District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has just initiated the first phase of a two-phased comprehensive water resources study of the Savannah River Basin.

A key objective of the study is to develop, in close partnership with the States of Georgia and South Carolina, a plan to meet the current and future water resources needs of the basin. The study will also be closely coordinated with the Environmental Protection Agency and their ongoing Watershed Project of the Savannah River Basin.

During the conduct of the reconnaissance phase, we worked closely with all the stakeholders of the basin to: 1) revalidate the major water resources issues facing the basin, and 2) outline the scope and cost of technical investigations, which will need to be performed to fully address these issues. The result of this phase will be a detailed study plan that will guide our efforts in the second, or feasibility phase, of the study.

By having accessed this site, we appreciate your interest in water resource issues in the Savannah River Basin. Visit us periodically to keep posted on our efforts on the study as we progress.
