  • Manor Creek Boat Ramp, Manor Ramp Road closure supports contract work

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Richard B. Russell Dam and Lake Project, in coordination with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, announce the closure of Manor Creek Boat Ramp and Manor Ramp Road beginning Aug. 1, 2025 – Aug. 31, 2026.
  • Contract awarded to begin debris removal at Thurmond Lake recreation areas

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – Using the Federal Highway Administration’s Emergency Relief for Federally Owned Roads (ERFO) funding received in June 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, awarded a contract to AshBritt, Inc., to begin Hurricane Helene debris removal July 18, 2025, at J. Strom Thurmond Lake recreation areas.
  • Second Buxton FUDS Restoration Advisory Board meeting scheduled

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Restoration Advisory Board for the Buxton Naval Facility Formerly Used Defense Sites property will hold its 2nd meeting July 17, 2025, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Cape Hatteras Anglers Club, located at 47231 Light Plant Road, Buxton, North Carolina. Doors open to the public at 5:15 p.m.
