Officials from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District and Fort Bragg, North Carolina broke ground on a new 37,300 square foot Child Development Center on the installation, Sept. 12, 2025. The Corps awarded a $23.66 million contract to Cooper Tacia General Contracting Company, of Raleigh, North Carolina, to construct the new state-art-of-the art facility which will provide expanded on post childcare options for Soldiers and families at Fort Bragg. Once completed, the new CDC will be one of the largest in the Army and will serve 338 children ages six weeks to five years. The facility will feature a variety of specialized rooms, including 12 activity rooms for infants, pre-toddlers, and toddlers, as well as 10 activity rooms for preschool and kindergarten-aged children. In addition, there will be a secure 38,381 square foot outdoor play area designed with age-appropriate child development equipment, safety surfacing, and protective fencing to ensure a safe and stimulating environment. The project is scheduled for completion 2029.
