Hartwell power plant repairs increase efficiency, cuts costs
Maintenance workers at the Hartwell Power Plant perform repairs on Unit 5 during a scheduled biennial inspection in June 2016. The team improves operational efficiency by rehabilitating deficient generators in-house, cutting losses of up to $12,000 per day. Losses are calculated on the basis of imminent failure if issues aren't identified and addressed immediately, according to Ryan Hanna, a Hartwell Power Plant hydropower manager.
