    Army Corps Announces Administrative Fee Changes

    Atlanta, Ga. – Beginning 1 January 2020, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, South Atlantic Division, will implement a revised administrative fee schedule resulting in a total cost of $835 for a dock and land based facilities at its reservoirs and along certain federal waterways in the Southeastern United States.

    Weir simulation reaches targeted depth in Augusta

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah River level in the Augusta area reached target elevation today as part of the simulation planned to allow the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District as well as the public to observe the summer conditions expected with the fish passage recommended plan, known as Alternative 2-6d. The recommended plan involves construction of a rock weir which would take the place of the New Savannah Bluff Lock and Dam in order to maintain a pool in Augusta.

    Corps to simulate fish passage water levels in Augusta

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, has begun making incremental adjustments to the pool level in the Augusta area today with expectation to reach target water levels by Feb.14 or sooner, in order to simulate conditions of a fixed weir in place of the New Savannah Bluff Lock and Dam. Gradual adjustment of the pool is necessary to maintain riverbank integrity.

    The Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, recently introduced a new, automated payment station at the entrance to Clarks Hill Park in McCormick County, South Carolina, at the J. Strom Thurmond Lake. The “plastic-only” station can issue a ticket good for the day at any of the boat ramps or day-use areas at the popular reservoir near Augusta, Georgia. The payment station eliminates the need to carry exact cash to place in an “honor vault” at the ramps and is open 24-7 for early boaters. (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers photo)

    Automated payment station at Thurmond Lake makes entry easy

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – A new automated payment station at Clarks Hill Park at Thurmond Lake will make it easy for visitors to use credit and debit cards to use the area and other areas at the reservoir. The payment station, similar to other such devices at a number of businesses, will dispense passes allowing use and access at any of the Corps of Engineers operated day-use areas on Thurmond Lake.
