    Illustrious career keeps growing and growing

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – Aaron Wahus’ 23-year Corps career matured into a park operations manager assignment at J. Strom Thurmond Project but his insatiable craving for new challenges made room for another career growth spurt. For four months, Wahus strengthened his functional muscle during a grooming assignment as head of the Baltimore District’s Tioga-Hammond and Cowanesque projects from Feb. 21 – June 19.

    Reservoirs maxed out: Flood storage captures excess rainfall

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – The rain event that occurred Sunday, April 19, caused both Hartwell and Thurmond to exceed the limits of conservation storage (almost simultaneously) as water levels rose into flood storage territory. As of this writing, Hartwell’s elevation has climbed more than six inches above the conservation threshold (660.51 feet above mean sea level) and Thurmond follows close behind.

    Corps park ranger builds future leaders through Boy Scouts

    In the last three years, Park Ranger David Quebedeaux—commonly known as “Ranger Dave”—has added another occupation to supplement his career at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers J. Strom Thurmond Lake in Clarks Hill, S.C. He runs the largest Boy Scout troop in the Georgia/Carolina region, and this, he said, takes his park ranger experience to another level.
