    Corps contractors complete first pass of debris removal in Grady County, final pass starts Dec. 29

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – With the concurrence of county officials, the first pass of picking up debris generated by Hurricane Michael in Grady County, Georgia, will be completed today, Dec. 21.

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Thurmond Lake Project Office will accept natural Christmas trees (no artificial trees) for recycling Dec. 21 through Jan. 9, 2019. Artificial trees will not be accepted.

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – By the end of Dec. 7, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, working with local government officials, will complete the first pass picking up debris generated by Hurricane Michael in Dougherty County, Ga. In anticipation of the second pass, residents should place any storm-generated debris along the side of the roadway before the morning of the county's scheduled start date for the second and final pass.

    Corps of Engineers unveils fish passage plan for lock & dam

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers today unveiled its recommended plan to allow fish passage around the currently existing New Savannah Bluff Lock and Dam. The new plan will consist of a fixed weir to allow fish access to traditional spawning grounds between the lock and dam and Thurmond Dam.

    Corps of Engineers to reveal recommended fish passage alternative for lock & dam

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – Officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, are scheduled to give a public presentation announcing the recommended fish passage plan Nov. 14 in North Augusta, South Carolina. In addition to announcing the recommended plan, officials will describe the selection process, provide the status of the analysis with its connection with the New Savannah Bluff Lock and Dam, and discuss the expected impacts to the river.
