SAVANNAH, Ga. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Richard B. Russell Dam and Lake Project, in coordination with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, announce the closure of Manor Creek Boat Ramp and Manor Ramp Road beginning Aug. 1, 2025 – Aug. 31, 2026.

The closures are due to contractor work in the area to complete the replacement of the oxygen line diffusers at Richard B. Russell Lake.

While the work takes place visitors can access Beer Garden and Millwood Boat Ramps, which are approximately three miles away.

Closure signs will be posted, and for safety concerns, the Army Corps of Engineers asks that visitors please refrain from going around the signs.

The oxygen line diffusers are a crucial part of a system designed to improve water quality and aquatic habitat, particularly during warmer months when natural oxygen levels can diminish. They add oxygen to the deeper layers of the lake, known as the hypolimnion.

The diffusers themselves are long lines of flexible, porous hose installed along the bottom of the lake, spreading oxygen over a large area.
