    PARKSVILLE, S.C. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, is pleased to announce the J. Strom Thurmond Project's subcontractor has begun repairs to the damaged road at Parksville Day Use Area. The damage was caused by a sink hole in February.

Strom Thurmond Project’s temporary closure continues at Parksville Day Use Area due to a public safety concern resulting from a large sink hole in the entrance road. Currently, there isn’t an estimated reopening date, but the process to repair it is being expedited. Guests are asked to please refrain from entering the park.

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, implemented flood risk management operations at the J. Strom Thurmond Project Dam when rain exceeded forecasted levels through portions of Georgia and South Carolina, which caused the lake and downstream river to rise. Currently, inflows into Augusta and Thurmond are starting to decrease, and spillway gates do not need to be opened.
