Clean-up of former Camp Croft begins with signing of $36.5 million contract

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Work to clean up former Camp Croft near Spartanburg, South Carolina, will begin soon following the April 1 signing of a contract between the Savannah District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and a joint venture of Weston Solutions, Inc., of Peachtree Corners, Georgia, and Zapata Inc., of Charlotte, North Carolina.

31st annual Kids’ Fishing Derby comes to Russell Lake May 4

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Richard B. Russell Project Office, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, and the Lake Russell Recreation and Tourism Coalition, will host the 31st Annual Kids’ Fishing Derby, Saturday, May 4.

Herbicide treatments to begin at Thurmond Lake to kill invasive hydrilla

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will apply herbicide to approximately 205 acres of hydrilla in the J. Strom Thurmond Lake beginning Sept. 6 weather permitting. The chemical application follows plans approved as part of management strategies identified in the April 2016 Avian Vacuolar Myelinopathy (AVM) Plan for the lake project.

One person, huge impact on small businesses
