SAVANNAH, Ga. — Construction continued on the dissolved oxygen injection system at two sites along the Savannah River last week. This time-lapse video shows workers installing a cofferdam as part of what will become the foundation for a series of Speece cones.
The cones, which are part of the dissolved oxygen system, will super-oxygenate river water and inject it back into the Savannah River to maintain current levels of dissolved oxygen as the shipping channel is deepened.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, oversees the SHEP, including environmental mitigation, like the dissolved oxygen system. CDM Constructors is the prime contractor for the dissolved oxygen injection system installation.
