  • Corps of Engineers awards contract for Hurricane Helene debris clean-up in Georgia

    SAVANNAH, Ga. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, along with local government officials, announces the task orders for debris removal activity in 10 counties within Georgia have been awarded and work has begun under the direction of the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA/HS) and Federal Emergency Management Agencies (FEMA), as part of the FEMA debris mission assignment.
  • Survey available for Buxton FUDS Restoration Advisory Board--work continues

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – During a public meeting at the Fessenden Center in Buxton, North Carolina, Nov. 4, 2024, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, invited the attendees to take a survey to gauge interest in establishing a Restoration Advisory Board for the Buxton Naval Facility, a Formerly Used Defense Sites property located within Cape Hatteras National Seashore of North Carolina.   • Boundary Line Maintenance at J. Strom Thurmond Project

    AUGUSTA, Ga. – Workers with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, at J. Strom Thurmond Project have begun work inspecting and re-painting approximately 60 miles of the existing boundary line, primarily in Lincoln and Wilkes County, starting near New Petersburg Road, near the Lincoln County Transfer Station, and ending near the Fishing Creek Store, south of Elberton Highway.

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – As a reminder, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, will host a public meeting at the Fessenden Center Nov. 4, 2024, from 7 to 9 p.m., to provide information about establishing a Restoration Advisory Board as an option to keep community members updated on the actions taking place at the Buxton Naval Facility, a Formerly Used Defense Sites property located within Cape Hatteras National Seashore of North Carolina.
