• Army Corps releases public comments to Brunswick harbor study

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, recently released the Brunswick Harbor Modification Study Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Assessment for a 30-day public comment period, which ended July 21, 2021. The report was updated to provide clarity regarding Corps’ proposed action for continued operation and maintenance of the entire Brunswick Harbor federal navigation channel.
  • Officials set 2021 dates for popular primitive hunting at Bussey Point

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, J. Strom Thurmond Project, Forest, Fish, and Wildlife section will hold primitive weapons deer hunts in Bussey Point Corps Management Unit (CMU), located in Lincoln County, Georgia, in October, November and December.
  • Corps highlights importance of water safety this Independence Day Weekend

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – More public recreation fatalities occur in July than any other month, so the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) asks the recreating public to play it safe while on, in, or near the water this holiday weekend. Drowning is a leading cause of death this time of year. There have been seven water-related deaths this year at Hartwell, Richard B. Russell, and J. Strom Thurmond lakes. Of those deaths, USACE public recreation fatality statistics show the following trends:
