Construction Division

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Savannah District manages and oversees a multi-billion dollar military construction program at 11 Army and Air Force installations in Georgia and North Carolina. Corps projects range from barracks, hospitals and clinics to equipment shops, headquarters buildings and aircraft hangars. Savannah District's construction field offices are located at Army and Air Force installations in Georgia and North Carolina. Each field office is staffed with Corps' professionals who work closely with the contractor, the installation and the customer to build quality facilities for today's military.

Our mission is to "provide construction management services as a member of the project delivery team to ensure construction contracts are executed on time, within budget, with the specified quality and in a safe manner in accordance with the Project Management Business Practices manual."

Operation Warfighter Construction Internships

Operation Warfighter is a temporary assignment internship program developed by the Department of Defense for service members that are recovering at military treatment facilities throughout the U.S. The program provides wounded, ill or injured service members with meaningful activity outside of the hospital environment and offers a supportive means of transition back to the military or civilian workforce. Operation Warfighter is a great opportunity for service members on medical hold to build their resumes, explore employment interests, develop job skills, and gain valuable federal government work experience that will help them prepare for their futures. The program also enables participating federal agencies to benefit from each Soldier’s considerable talents, skill sets and dedication.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Savannah District is a proud sponsor of Operation Warfighter, providing meaningful construction-related internships for Warriors in Transition at Army and Air Force installations in Georgia and North Carolina. The Corps needs interns to serve a variety of roles at construction field offices within the district, where they will learn many facets of the career field – from quality assurance to mechanical engineering to contract payment. Each intern is assigned a dedicated USACE mentor to coach and guide progress toward the internship goals. The objective is for interns to come away with valuable construction management skills that can translate into jobs in both private and federal sectors. Construction Quality Management for Contractors Course

Collapse All Expand All
 What is the CQM Course?

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers requires all contractors performing construction for us to comply with the “Contractor Quality Control” (CQC), provisions in their contracts. In the early development of the CQC system, there was considerable misunderstanding as to what was required and who was responsible for it. In cooperation with the construction industry, the Corps developed a training course entitled “Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM)”.

The purpose of this course is to familiarize all quality management personnel with the Corps construction quality management policies and procedures. The course details the requirements of the government and contractor personnel assigned to the project and the reasons for those requirements. The effectiveness of the CQM system is enhanced when all personnel are aware of their responsibilities and the reasons for them. To ensure the success of the CQC system, every Corps construction contract stipulates that the contractor’s quality control representative is required to have this training.

There are no courses currently scheduled at this time.
