SAVANNAH, Ga. – Officials from the Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, will hold a workshop on proposed changes to the Savannah River Basin Drought Contingency Plan on July 12 in North Augusta, South Carolina.
The two-hour meeting, which begins at 2 p.m., will be held at the City of North Augusta Municipal Building, Palmetto Terrace, located at 100 Georgia Ave., North Augusta, South Carolina.
At the workshop, the Corps, along with agency partners from the Georgia and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and The Nature Conservancy, will answer questions from the public regarding the proposed changes to the Drought Contingency Plan and the factors that shaped these proposals.
The proposed drought plan would make adjustments to water releases from Savannah District reservoirs. The proposed changes to the Drought Contingency Plan are prompted from findings in the Interim 2 of the Savannah River Basin Comprehensive Study. The public can read the entire Interim 2 Study here.
The first hour of the workshop will consist of a presentation and a panel for questions and answers. The second hour will be an open period where individuals can ask questions of any of the agency representatives and provide their comments on the study proposal. The Corps of Engineers will continue to receive public comments through noon, July 13.
