Thomas (Tom) Woodie currently serves as the Deputy District Engineer for Programs and Project Management and Chief of the Planning, Programs and Project Management Division at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Savannah District, a role he assumed in May 2024.
In his role, Woodie oversees the execution and management of an annual program exceeding $1 billion, leading a team of approximately 70 staff members in the PPPM Division. The Savannah District supports 11 Army and Air Force installations in Georgia and North Carolina, water resource activities in Georgia and portions of South Carolina, as well as wetland protection in Georgia. Additionally, the Savannah District engages in military design and master planning, hazardous waste cleanup at Formerly Used Defense sites, real estate activities for the Department of Defense, emergency management operations for state and federal agencies, and provides support for Overseas Contingency Operations.
Previously, Woodie held the position of Chief of the Project Controls and Program Management Branch, where he was responsible for project support and program financial management. He also served as Assistant Chief for the Planning, Programs, and Project Management Division. Earlier in his career, Woodie served as Chief of Reimbursable Programs, overseeing the execution of environmental, interagency and international support, Formerly Used Defense Sites, and reimbursable work within the Savannah District's area of responsibility.
Before joining the civilian service, Woodie held the position of Deputy Commander at the Savannah District. Prior to his tenure at the Savannah District, Woodie served in various command and staff positions within the Army Engineer Corps, both domestically and internationally.
Woodie holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of South Carolina (1991), a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri, Rolla (1998), a Master of Science degree in Education from Long Island University (2000), and a Master in Military Art and Science degree from the School of Advanced Military Studies, Fort Leavenworth, KS (2005).
