Col. Daniel Hibner WTKS Radio Interview
Col. Daniel Hibner, Commander of the Savannah District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, conducted a live, on-air interview with WTKS radio hosts Bill Edwards and Laura Anderson, on Sept. 6, 2018, in Savannah, Georgia. Hibner answered questions about the progress of the Savannah Harbor Expansion Project (SHEP), its economic impact for the nation, the timeline for completion of the project and the progress made to date. He also discussed other aspects of the Savannah District's widely varied mission including maintaining the deep water harbors in Savannah and Brunswick, Georgia; military construction at military bases in the region and the construction of the new headquarters of the Army's Cyber Command, located at Fort Gordon, in Augusta, Georgia. The SHEP will deepen the Savannah harbor from 42 to 47 feet which will allow larger container ships to enter or leave the harbor in a more timely manner and to enter and leave with heavier loads.
