Some user fees to rise for three areas at Thurmond Lake

Published Dec. 22, 2017

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Beginning Jan. 1, 2018, some user fees will rise at one boat ramp and two primitive campgrounds at Thurmond Lake, officials announced.

The Keg Creek boat ramp in Columbia County, Georgia, will once again charge $5 per boat launch through its “honor box.” The fee had been waived while toilets there were unavailable to the public. The primitive toilets have re-opened. An adjacent parking lot is also open to allow anglers to park, walk under the highway bridge and fish from the lakeside at no charge.

The primitive campsites at Bussey Point Campground in Lincoln County, Georgia, and at LeRoys Ferry in McCormick County, South Carolina, will raise fees to $10 per night. The fee had been reduced for the past two years. The fee increase will culminate a gradual rise in the campground fees to the Corps of Engineers standard price for such campgrounds.
