Published Feb. 7, 2019

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Beginning about Feb. 11, access to the Dorn Fishing facility on J. Strom Thurmond Lake in McCormick County, South Carolina, will be closed Monday through Friday for approximately five weeks to undergo resurfacing.

Workers will remove old asphalt and lay new along Chamberlain Ferry Road between Newby Cemetery Road (formerly Jennings Cemetery Road) and the Dorn Fishing facility.

“We will make every effort to keep the road open to the Dorn facility on weekends,” Kevin Madsen, Recreation Chief Ranger at Thurmond Lake, said. “Please use caution along this road while work is in progress and watch for and obey warning signs.”

For more information the public can call the Thurmond Project office at 864-333-1100.
