Rockville Resident Selected for Engineering Award

ROCKVILLE, Md. – Shahidou Mariko, of Rockville, Maryland, was selected for the Modern-Day Technology Leader award at the 2022 Black Engineer of the Year Awards STEM Conference on Nov. 8, 2021.

The Modern-Day Technology Leader Award recognizes men and women who demonstrate outstanding performances in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Mariko is scheduled to receive his award during the Technology Recognition Event in Washington Feb. 18, 2022.

Mariko has worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Savannah, Georgia, since May 2016, as a mechanical engineer. He is a 2011 graduate of Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Maryland, and a 2015 graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore, Maryland. He is the son of Soumaila Mariko and Diby Tounkara.
