CALHOUN FALLS, S.C. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Richard B. Russell Project Office, is hosting the 33rd Annual Kid’s Fishing Derby on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at freshly stocked Calhoun Falls Bank Fishing area, located on Highway 72 in Calhoun Falls, S.C.
Youth, ages 5-15, may participate, if registered. Check-in is from 7-8 a.m. and fishing hours are from 8-11 a.m. A water safety program will follow along with prizes, a grand prize drawing and a free lunch. Lunch is provided to all registered participants by the Lake Russell Recreation and Tourism Coalition and consists of a sandwich, chips, drink, and dessert. Attendees 16 or older may purchase a lunch for $5 per person (subject to availability).

Parents and guardians can fish outside the net during the fishing derby with a Georgia or South Carolina fishing license. Youth 15 and younger do not need a fishing license. Restrooms and drinking water will be available for everyone. Attendees should plan to bring their own chair, fishing gear, and sunscreen. Life jackets are highly recommended for children and weak swimmers who will be near the water.
