NEWS RELEASE: UPDATE - West Dam Rec Area and Bartram Trail Now Open

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The U.S Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, at the J. Strom Thurmond Lake has restored service to the main water line and reopened access to West Dam Recreation Area and the Bartram Trail at West Dam, effective immediately.

Located in Columbia County, Georgia, one mile from the J. Strom Thurmond Visitors Center, West Dam Recreation Area is open 8 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. The Day Use Area includes comfort stations, picnic area, two playgrounds, facilities for handicapped, one shelter, 10 mini shelters, seven beaces, and Bartram Trail entrance point.

The entrance fee is $5 per vehicle. The shelter can be reserved in advance for $125, and mini shelters can be reserved in advance for $10.
