SAVANNAH, Ga. – Registration is now open for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers “Take Kids Fishing Day” that takes place Saturday, June 21, 2025, on J. Storm Thurmond Lake at Modoc Boat Ramp located Gilchrist Ferry Road, Modoc, South Carolina.
Space is limited so registration is recommended to secure a reserved a spot. There are three ways to register: By scanning the QR code below, by visiting https://fishaugusta2025.eventbrite.com or by calling the Thurmond Lake Project Office at 864-333-1159.
The fishing area will be freshly stocked with catfish and ready for the young anglers. Anyone between ages 5-15 may participate, if registered. The first 150 youths registered will receive a free fishing rod and reel. All participants must have a parent or guardians with them. The parent or guardian can fish if they have a valid Georgia or South Carolina fishing license in their possession. Youth 15 and younger do not need a fishing license.
Check-in time is from 8-9 a.m. and fishing hours are from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Lunch is provided to all registered participants.
Portable restrooms and drinking water will be available for everyone, but attendees should bring their own chair, fishing gear, and sunscreen. Life jackets are highly recommended for children and weak swimmers who will be near the water.
