Corps of Engineers closes due to weather

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will close at noon today and remain closed through Wednesday, Jan. 28, due to hazardous winter weather. In addition, the district will implement a "liberal leave" policy for Thursday.

This closure affects employees stationed in Savannah, Hunter Army Airfield and Fort Stewart. Employees in other areas of the Savannah District in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina should follow guidance of their local managers. Contractors for the Corps of Engineers at local installations should follow the directions of the installation where they work.

Employees are placed on administrative (paid) leave during the closure. Workers should monitor local news outlets and district social media sites for updates. Employees should return to work Thursday.
