Columbus, Ohio -- COLUMBUS, Ohio – Pamela Backus, of Columbus, Ohio, was selected for the Modern-Day Technology Leader award at the 2022 Black Engineer of the Year Awards STEM Conference in November 2021.
The Modern-Day Technology Leader Award recognizes men and women who demonstrate outstanding performances in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Backus is scheduled to receive her award during the Technology Recognition Event in Washington Feb. 18, 2022.
Backus has worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Savannah, Georgia, since October 2021, as a biologist. She previously worked with the Nashville District for five years. She is a 2012 graduate of Columbus Alternative High School in Columbus, Ohio, and a 2016 graduate of Tennessee State University. She is the daughter of Pamela and Gearl Diggs.
