Email Notification of Public Notices


Under the Corps' Regulatory Program, a public notice is the primary method for advising all interested parties of a proposed activity for which a permit is sought. Soliciting comments and information necessary to evaluate the probable impacts on the public interest. Public notices are also published to inform the public about new or proposed regulations, policies, guidance or permit procedures.

Starting June 1, 2013, only those individuals or groups, who subscribe to the new system, will receive electronic notification or printed copies of Public Notices. OVERALL PROJECT PURPOSE: The Applicant's stated overall purpose for the proposed expansion of the R&B Landfill is to provide for additional municipal soild waste disposal capacity within the existing landfill facility. The R&B Landfill has a remaining capacity of approximately 15 million cubic yards, with an expected remaining lifespan of 20 years at current disposal rates and a lesser lifespan based on growth and increase in waste volume. In order to fulfill the need for additional waste capacity for Banks County and the metropolitan Atlanta area, the Applicant is proposing the expansion of the R&B Landfill to provide for an additional 16,500,100 cubic yards of capacity, increasing the projected life of the facility to 36 years at current disposal rates.

    PROJECT NAME: Extend Comment Period for the Clean Water Act Proposed Rule for Definition of Water of the U.S. COUNTY: Georgia. NEAREST NAMED WATERWAY: N/A. OVERALL PROJECT PURPOSE: On 21 April 2014, the USEPA and the Corps of Engineers (Corps) published for public comment a proposed rule defining the scope of waters protected under the Clean Water Act (CWA), in light of the U.S. Supreme Court cases in U.S. v. Riverside Bayview, Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County v. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (SWANCC), and Rapanos v. United States (Rapanos). The proposed rule was developed to enhance protection for the nation’s public health and aquatic resources, and increase CWA program predictability and consistency by increasing clarity as to the scope of “waters of the United States” protected under the Act. This notice is to announce that the comment period has been extended through November 14, 2014.
