    Parksville, SC. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, J. Strom Thurmond Project’s temporary closure continues at Parksville Day Use Area due to a public safety concern resulting from a large sink hole in the entrance road. Currently, there isn’t an estimated reopening date, but the process to repair it is being expedited. Guests are asked to please refrain from entering the park.

Strom Thurmond Fishing Map.” The web-based application is designed to assist boat and bank anglers in digital planning, ground referencing features, and areas of interest.
  • Officials set 2021 dates for popular primitive hunting at Bussey Point

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, J. Strom Thurmond Project, Forest, Fish, and Wildlife section will hold primitive weapons deer hunts in Bussey Point Corps Management Unit (CMU), located in Lincoln County, Georgia, in October, November and December.
  • Corps of Engineers to reopen primitive campgrounds at Thurmond Lake

    Primitive campgrounds Bussey Point and LeRoys Ferry are set to reopen on June 19 at J. Strom Thurmond Lake. All reservations and payments must now be made through Recreation.gov. The camping fee remains $10 per night.
