    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, has completed its Hurricane Helene debris removal operations, collectively removing 242,645.5 cubic yards of downed timber and debris from J. Strom Thurmond Dam and Lake recreation areas.

    Elberton, Ga. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, Richard B. Russell Project, will host dove hunts for youth and adults Sept. 20 and Oct. 4, 2025, at two fields in Elbert County, Georgia, and one field in Abbeville County, South Carolina.

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – August 22, 2025 — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District team returned to Buxton, North Carolina, on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025, to begin a post-Hurricane Erin assessment of the former Buxton Naval Facility, a Formerly Used Defense Sites (FUDS) property within Cape Hatteras National Seashore in Dare County.
